Singer 1911 Ww2 - Lot 743 - Rare and highly desirable WW2 USA. Singer 1911 Rare and Highly Desirable World War II Singer Manufacturing Company Model 1911A1 Semi-Auto Pistol Holster Auction Date: December 1, 2017

This is a rare example of one of 500 Model 1911A1 pistols made by Singer Manufacturing Company during World War II under Ordnance Educational Order Number W-ORD-396. A total of only 500 pistols were produced by the Singer Manufacturing Company during World War II, almost all of these pistols were delivered to the US Army Air Corps. Examples are few and far between, with very low total production numbers and a high attrition rate for the crew. The left side of the slide is marked in two lines forward of the slide serration: "S. MFG.CO./ELIZABETH, N.J., U.S.A." There are no marks on the right side of the slide. The top of the slide is stamped with a single "P" proof mark and the bottom of the firing pin retaining plate is correctly stamped with the pistol's serial number. On the left side of the picture is Colonel John K., executive officer of the New York Ordnance District. Stamped with Clement's name "JKC". A "P" proof mark is stamped on the left side of the frame immediately above the magazine release. The right side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/NO S800200" in two lines, with "M 1911 A1 U.S.ARMY" above and forward of the stop pin hole. The pistol has a rimless checkered wide spur hammer, checkered thumb safety, slide stop, trigger and mainspring housing. It is fitted with a correct grip, no early marks, hollow back (no internal reinforcement ribs or mold marks). The grips also lack reinforcement rings around the screw caps. It is fitted with the correct style barrel with only a large "P" proof on the left side of the leg with no other proof marks. The pistol has a period chrome "war trophy". A popular practice in WWII GI returns was to "upgrade" their return with a gloss finish. Chrome was most desired and provided an attractive memento of her life-changing experience. Chrome plating was developed by Fink & Aldridge at Columbia University in 1924, becoming a popular decorative corrosion resistance technique applied to many commercial and industrial metal surfaces. This included the firearm, and is the only known Factory Engraved Chrome Army Colt Single Action revolver made in 1929 in this auction. The pistol comes with a WWII replacement magazine marked with a single "R" on the lip. Motherboard for the Risdon company. They were a subcontractor producing M1911A1 magazines directly for the military, as well as a subcontractor for several handgun manufacturers during World War II. This lot comes complete with a WWII style US marked leather private purchase case. The consignor has indicated that this gun has not been cleaned to maintain its originality.

Like vintage "War Trophy" chrome with 98% finish still remaining on all metal surfaces. The brown plastic grips are in very good condition and are nicely molded into frames showing some minor handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides from use. The cover is in good condition. As noted, this rare WWII Singer pistol also has a chrome metal finish applied to the barrel and magazine. The markings are clearly visible and distinct enough. For a true .45 Auto collector, this Singer Manufacturing Company pistol is available throughout the United States. The Model 1911A1 is the holy grail of WWII pistols. When you study the many engagements of the 1911 .45 and the lives it saved, you will realize that the vast majority of these actions were fought with an old GI .45.

Therefore, there are seriously updated versions, serving mainly with special equipment. Many are in use by special units in the United States.

I'd be surprised if a GI .45 stayed in a police holster, but then again, some old hands like me might hang on to a reliable pistol that has served well.

Others find a way to make a cheap gun in order to sell it at a certain price. The 1911 may be a target weapon, but the GI45 is a fighting pistol.

Some 1911 pistols are works of art, not as beautiful as the Freunds, but with a certain sensual look to those who appreciate steel.

While high-end pistols are interesting and certainly effective, the GI .45 was issued to the military and used in places like the trenches of France, the caves of Iwo Jima, and the Mekong Delta.

The pistol features a Parkerized finish, precision engineered checkered plastic grips, arched mainspring housing and original spur hammer.

The eyes are also the original small GI type. The slide lock, slide lock safety, magazine release, grip safety and trigger are all GI.

The slide is marked "Model 1911A1 US Army". The pistol is also marked "ZIG Tisas Turkey" in lower case.

In this case, it would not be a bad idea to paint the scenes white, red, yellow or green. I have many GI 1911's.

Back in the day, we cut and modified many weapons that would be very valuable today!

As far as I can tell the pistol is a straight GI. The arched mainspring housing and short trigger feel great in the hand.

Although the pistol is a GI type and the controls are smaller than many modern 1911 pistols, that doesn't mean they are difficult to manipulate quickly.

There is little to fumble with clothing or holsters, and the safety is not difficult to manipulate quickly while drawing the pistol.

The GI .45 sometimes cuts the hand because the hammer spur leaves the hand web behind. The Tissas 1911 is free of this problem in my hands.

The gun uses conventional barrel bushings and guide rods. The barrel bushing is dull, but not too tight.

When considering the GI .45, the first advantage is reliability. The Tissas 1911 has demonstrated good reliability.

The feed ramp is properly adjusted with the required 1/32 inch gap between the two halves of the feed ramp.

The pistol was loaded with a mixture of Federal American Eagle 230-grain FMJ and Federal Syntech 230-grain. The gun hits the target quickly.

Fired at man-sized targets at five, seven, and 10 yards, the pistol hit the X-rings. No feed, chamber, fire, or ejection failures.

The original .45 GI was designed to meet the accuracy standards of a five-inch, five-shot group at 25 yards and a 10-inch group at 50 yards.

The Wait Is Over: My Cmp 1911 Has Arrived!

Sights are regulated to a six o'clock stop at 25 yards and a permanent stop at 50 yards. The image of Tisas' vision is similar.

Tisas is accurate like most GI weapons. The typical GI weapon is more accurate than the standards it was designed for.

The Tisas is an all-steel, forged, non-cast pistol with the contours and performance of a traditional GI pistol.

Some people consider the GI .45 to be the best combat .45, because it's a simple gun with very little wrong with it. Many of these people have a lot of experience.

In 1940, the official US military designation of the pistol was Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911 for the original model adopted in March 1911, and Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1 for the improved M1911A1 model, which entered service at 26.
